Building a wardrobe

Standard

Aka 2014 sewing goals

So for this year I want to build a versatile, interchangeable wardrobe. And I want to make it myself.

Honestly, I doubt I will accomplish all the sewing, I’ll probably buy some along the way. But the goal here is getting a bunch of pieces that work well together, rather than the hodge podge of randomness with no cohesion whatsoever that is my current wardrobe.

So to start, I’ve chosen a color palette to build from:

Navy
Grey
Purple
Yellow
Green

Five basic colors to build a well rounded wardrobe. The neutrals are self explanatory, navy and grey, but the colors I’ll explain a bit.

I’m breaking each color down into two options. For yellow, I’m going to do bright and mustard. For purple, lavender and dark plum. And for green, mint and emerald. But for now I’ll stick to just one of each.

Sticking to just these options will let me mix and match and give my wardrobe focus.

Anyway, here are the plans!

Dresses
One solid one print of each color : 10 total

Skirts
One solid one print of each color : 10 total

Pants
One solid of each color : 5 total

Tops
One solid one print of each color : 10 total

Jackets/Cardigans
One solid of each color
One striped of each neutral : total 7

Total : 42 items to make

That’s a ton of sewing! It’s also a long running goal, if it takes longer than 2014 I’ll keep plugging away, but all in all I think it’s a good goal 🙂
